So I left the test thinking…

Yeah, that was not great! So I sat around all day and figured, hey, it’s ok… the semester is over you just have to let it go. Then, low and behold, I decide to look up and see if the scores are in… and they are.. and get ready for it……46/50!!!!!! I’m not going to lie to you… I was a little more than shocked! So, I’m excited! I made it through Brain and Behavior! Oh, and I also put in my 11 minutes and 10 seconds on the elliptical!

The time has come and I must go…

Ughhhhhhhhh (yeah, think Napolean)

Ok, now I’m mad! Oh well!

So, first of all… read it and weep and then shut your trapper Thrapper cause I ain’t doin’ more! TEN MINUTES AND 30 SECONDS!!!!! Sure I wanted to pass out, and yeah, I was screaming at the tv for coming to a commercial, and ok, maybe there was a little throw up in my mouth right then… but I DID IT!!!! So today, I am coming home from my test and I’m getting on my elliptical and I’m gonna bang out my 11 minutes (that’s right… you SHHHH! I know I said, if I do ten I can do an hour… but apparently when I did that before I had built up over a much larger period of time lol… it’s not gonna HAPPEN) and then I’m gonna lay on my couch and watch hours of tv while I watch my sweet wonderful husband who has put up with a crazy lady (I really do love ya and I’m sooooo sorry that I’ve been like watching the Faces of Eve lately) study for HIS finals and I just might eat some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream since I’m just a commie anyway (just kidding, about the commie part at least) and snuggle with my kids and hope they remember that somewhere deep down is a nice and loving mother who does growl everytime they come up to me. I will NOT worry about the grade I’m going to get on this final that I’m still procrastinating with only 5 hours before its commencement and I will NOT think about the laundry that could be getting folded! I will think about Jess, who better be having fun on her third cruise since NOVEMBER (and you are sooooooooooo taking me on the next one, I deserve a vacation lol)! And Mipper (man, that is hard to type! I keep wanting to say your real name… I remember when it was hard to not use Mipper and use your real name… oh how far we have gone lol!), I hope all your kids are better and your leg is healing! And Becca, I just want to call you up today and GAB and not have to worry about some stupid test (that goes for you too Mip, but I am afraid our minutes can’t take it… yours or mine, unless I call from my home phone… I just might)! And Jules… if you are here, I hope you are enjoying having your hubby home finally, now you RELAX too, you DESERVE IT after he’s been gone so long! Hmmm… who else comes here? Ohh Kim… if you are here, I am loving your blog and getting to see your new house. It is AWESOME!!! And Chris, honest, I love you! I will make this whole cruddy week up to you while you study and you can be as mean as you want to (but don’t, I’m fried and I am not sure I could take it lol)! Anyone else….Ohh WAIT… Ana! Hey all you other ladies… check out these adorable tutus on eBay (with crowns and beautiful wands) that Ana made to raise money to tutus adopt her son or daughter that is out there somewhere just waiting for their amazing family to find them, I am totally getting one for Audrey if I can convince her to make me one in a 6x. Go for it ladies… it’s for a GREAT cause and AnaAna is one super chick (who will kill me if she sees her picture on her lol but you can check out her blog on my links over yonder…she’s watch out for Mama)!

I think that is it… if you are a lurker and you wish to be publically talked to and possibly embarrassed with photos and such, please feel free to leave a comment so I know you are here! You can’t win if you don’t play! Ha ha ha! I think I’m getting loopy! It’s almost 3 a.m. which means only 4.5 hours to the test! Oh don’t worry, I’ve only got 21 pages of reading and you know… extensive memorization of the brain to commit to my memory (long term thank you with a good hit of some long term potentiation please so that my axon terminals can receive greater imput next time thanks to the acetylcholine and maybe some GABA receptors… yeah, I’m not sure that is right lol!) If I finish this post then I’m just closer to the test… BECCA, this is like the BOOK, The Monster at the End of This Book and I’m GROVER! Please save me! lol. I think I would rather just randomly type things here and not study so that when I flunk I can just say… oh well, I didn’t really study! QUICK, two extra bonus brownies for whoever can name what defense mechanism that is! It’s not hard lol! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Must study… can not make myself do it! BTW, I’m mad because I wrote this whole big post before and then went to get a picture of Ana’s tutus and the computer ate my post! So, I’m getting a little worried that the longer I do this, the more likely it is to eat it again, and I know I will not want to do THIS all over again! So I should just hit send. Hmmm… two minutes to 3… I’ll just wait! Why are you all sleeping? Why is no one here to hold my hand and say it will be ok lol! You are all sleeping… well, let’s be fair, Becca and Mipper have babies, so you MAY not be sleeping, but I bet you are! Meanies! How dare you sleep when I sit her distressed… one minute. Eeek. Ok, my time is up. This little tantrum/ breakdown has been fun, but I just have to get going… have to study those brain mechanisms that I still maintain should just have been automatically been in my brain since it’s such a complex and amazing machine… jeez!

Six game skid

Man, the Cubs started out the season ok, but now they’re on a six game losing streak. I think the main difference between when they were doing good, and now, is when they were doing good, I was watching the games on TV, but I’ve been too busy lately. They must not feel my positive energy anymore. So to all you Cubs fans out there, I apologize.

Wikipedia is everywhere!

Short post, just commenting on the fact that it seems no matter what term I search for, the Wikipedia entry almost always seems to fall in the top 10 returns on Google. Not that there’s anything wrong with that; in fact, I quite welcome it.

Iowa Renaissance Festival 2006

Daddy's Day Out 024So yesterday after the Pitch, Hit & Run Competition that Michael was in, we took a drive to the Amana Colonies and the Iowa Renaissance Festival while Kate stayed home and studied for her Brain and Behavior final. Michael and Audrey got to enjoy their first funnel cake (an authentic Renaissance treat) while we we waiting for the Joust to start.

Iowa RenFest - JoustThe Joust was fun, if not a little WWE’ish. The “knights” were performing wrestling moves, like clotheslines, and one of them stood on top of his horse like it was a turnbuckle and jumped onto his opponent who he had knocked on the ground with his lance. OK, so it was kinda lame, but also still fun at the same time.

Pitch, Hit & Run Competition

Michael hittingSo yesterday Michael was in the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Competition in North Liberty. The name of the competition says it all. Michael was one of 8 kids in the 7/8 year old category, but he was one of the younger kids there. In fact, there was only one kid that was smaller than him, and I always thought Michael was a little big for his age.

Michael's Scorecard Anyways, so Michael didn’t do so well, but he had fun. He was so nervous because he had to go first in each of the three categories. He was really disappointed that he didn’t do better, and I was really afraid for a bit that he was going to cry about it, but suprisingly he didn’t. I’m so proud of him because of how well he was able to deal with it, and for doing his best, even though he was scared.

7 MINUTES!!!!

That’s right Becca Tap! I’ll see your 6 minutes and 20 seconds, and I will raise you an additional 40 seconds LOL!!! Sure it’s late and sure, I mostly did it to have a reason to stop studying, but hey… I got to six minutes and internally I said *CRUD* I have to go another 20 seconds because of that dang Becca! Then I got to that and thought… I can go to 7… and I did!

Well… I should go back to the books!

Daddy’s Day Out!

So my wonderful husband, as I mentioned in the post about Michael, took the kids out for the day so I could study! He took Michael to his competition and watched him do his thing Daddy's Day Out 010 and clapped as he got his scorecardDaddy's Day Out 012 . Then he decided to take the kids to see the renaissance fair in the Amanas where he and the kids got to see some joustingDaddy's Day Out 035 Daddy's Day Out 025 and then dine on some deliciousDaddy's Day Out 024 (and oh so renaissance)Daddy's Day Out 022 funnel cakes. After that they went to the store to get dinner and then to the car wash to clean out the car. They came home exhausted, soaked, and cold lol… but I think they had a great day!

I am having a proud mommy moment!

Chris signed Michael up for this kids baseball competition thing (MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run Competition), and honestly, I was so worried. Michael has ADHD and is just very sensitive. We’ve been working with him, and on his reward chart (AGAIN, THANK YOU ANA!) there is a spot for him to get a star when he is disappointed but is able to maintain his composure… but he still struggles. Mind you, we assure him it is ok to feel disappointed and even be sad when things don’t work out, but that he does not need to reduce himself to tears and tantrums when things don’t work out. So you see, this competition had me really worried (thank goodness I have a husband who has more faith in our children’s abilities than I do lol). Apparently there were three categories and only 8 children in Michael’s age range and Michael had to go first in all three categories, so he was VERY nervous. I knew that Michael could hear Chris’s response so I asked if he did well and Chris said, not really… which immediately made my heart break for Michael… and then I asked if he got upset and Chris said yes, and then I asked if he cried or whined about not winning and Chris said no! Then traffic got bad and Michael asked to talk to me….
Michael: Hi Mommy!

Me: Hi Michael! Did you have fun?

Michael: Yeah!

Me: Daddy said that you had to go first all three times?

Michael: Mommy? Umm, guess what? I didn’t win, but I tried really hard and even though I was disappointed I did not cry! It’s ok to be disappointed as long as I don’t cry and whine right, Mommy?
Me: {trying not to cry out of sheer love and pride for my sweet tater} Yes Michael, it’s always ok to feel disappointed and even sad as long as you do not whine and cry. I’m so proud of you!

He is such an amazing kid and I’m so filled with love and admiration with him for being so brave to try his best and still take not winning so gracefully.

I love you Michael!!! my michael
