Wheeler Christop

OK, so today I was taking my exam, and filling in the Scantron form, you know, the kind where you have to fill in the bubbles and stuff. Nothing new today, exact same form, but for some reason, when my whole name doesn’t fit, I got REALLY annoyed. I mean, who’s bright idea is it to limit the number of characters to 16? It’s not just Scantron forms, because I get mail quite frequently addressed to “Christop Wheeler”.

I guess there is probably a really good explanation for this; I would suppose that 16 characters was some sort of limiting factor at the dawn of scanning test forms and stuff. But now, I don’t see a reason they can’t change it. How freaking hard can that be?

I am amazed that you couldn’t fit your whole name. The only other person I’ve known that I know couldn’t fit their full name on those test forms was Danaka, especially when they’d ask for the middle name also! I don’t know that I’d mind if they could only fit part of my name as long as they were spelling it right. And as long as they were not calling me and mispronouncing it. I’ll take crap mail over telemarketing calls anyday! Oh dear, look at me, I’m rambling on your blog. Sorry.

Apparently about as hard as it is for you to shorten your name to “Chris” on these forms. ;)

    Drew,

Great advice. Another friend of mine (Super Boyer) suggested the same in an email to me earlier this afternoon.

Here’s the problem with that: I RARELY write my name as “Chris”, I almost always write it as “Christoper” “Christopher” [edited because my dorky friend Becca has WAY too much time on her hands if she caught that] on everything. For that matter, I almost always sign it “Christopher A. Wheeler”. Except for one time, on an exam for a class that wasn’t Scantron, I wrote “christopherawheeler.com” just to be funny.

Anyways, on the test form, if I just filled in “Chris” I would be filled with an enormous amount of anxiety over how it looked. Of course, I’m not sure which is worse, getting worked up about filling in “Chris”, or getting mad about “Christop”.

Maybe you should work through the OCD instead of just giving in ;)

Do you really write “Christoper” –that’s funny.
