My new big idea…

So, according to some expert on Oprah or Dr. Phil, I can’t remember right now, to raise children that are happy you have to love life.  I am not quite sure what this means, but they also said that children whose mothers only love THEM grow up feeling like they can never love themselves.  SO… it is my new goal to learn to love myself.  This is NO small feat I promise you, and if you know me, you know I am the queen of self-deprecation.   So,  instead of going on some big diet and saying here’s all these things in my life that I need to change because I am such a loser… I am trying to find the good in me.

How do I do this, you ask?  I have NO CLUE!  I would love any and all suggestions for this!  I will leave it all in your trusty hands… YOU teach ME!  Teach me…… now!   :lol:

    Holy Cow - are you serious? What is there not to love about you?? Who cares about what is on the outside (of course this doesn’t mean you can go months without showering, etc) it is what you have on the inside that shines through to everyone you come in contact with! The whole weight/diet thing doesn’t mean you don’t love yourself it just means you don’t have alot of time for yourself! You are teaching your children to love themselves just fine & you are also teaching your children to love others! To me, loving yourself is fulfilling your needs but also being able to sacrifice your needs when you are called to.

    I know this to be true, when you love yourself, it shows on everyone around you, your dh, your kids etc.

    I think your wonderful Kate and I hope someday you can see that. It’s time to look inside yourself, write down all the things you do like about yourself, write down the things people say they like about you, write down all you would like to be. You are you and there are so many things wonderful about you, maybe you just need to realize them and bring them out more. We are always a work in progress Kate, in every aspect of our lives we have to work on them, it’s not easy but worth it.

    Having lost a considerable amount of weight the last year I understand where you are coming from too, and true losing weight will not change who you are, or make everything better in your life, but in all honesty it makes a huge difference in how you feel about yourself-I tried to think it didn’t for years but it does. It’s just another thing to work on but your worth it! If anything to be healthy, that is why I did it, I worried so much after I got diabetes that I would not be around for my kids or my dh. For a long time I thought it was selfish to put my needs firs, but really it’s not, taking care of yourself makes youy happier and then everyone around you is too.

    Love ya! {{hugs}}
