Another FUN and BUSY weekend!

This weekend started off with a bang with Becca’s Thursday night arrival! She was able to get away early (Thank you Aunt Elise!!!) and get here Thursday so we would have some extra time together! That night we played cards with Drew and Erin and watched 27 Dresses into the weeeeee hours of the night. Friday, we dragged our bootays out of bed around 11:30AM and then headed out to the Salvation Army to discover that $0.25 FRIDAYS ARE BACK!!!! We were thrilled and my kids enjoyed looking through ALL of the clothes for anything that had a yellow tag (rendering it a QUARTER).

Friday night Drew came over and we played some more Euchre and Durock (that is sooo not the way to spell it, but it’s Russian so I have NO clue). It was great fun! After Drew pooped out and Chris headed to bed, Becca and I watched The Perfect Man. It was mindless and fun, but we were up late AGAIN!!

Saturday brought even more fun as Becca, Chris and I prettied ourselves up (and the kids got to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Staley…THANKS Mom and Dad!!!) to attend the wedding of Sarah Benson, one of my friends from school sarahweddingjeannashower08 009.jpg It was a beautiful wedding and a fun reception! When we got home from the reception Drew came over yet again to get some more card playing in! We had to kick him out by midnight however, because we all had to be up early to head to Muscatine. Chris was meeting his friend Lori for lunch at his favorite restaurant Peking while Becca and I were heading to our friend Jeanna’s Garden BABY SHOWER sarahweddingjeannashower08 047.jpg

We arrived early and took in the beautiful decor sarahweddingjeannashower08 043.jpg and the yummy food sarahweddingjeannashower08 050.jpg

Soon our other friend Danaka arrived sarahweddingjeannashower08 037.jpg and we sat together to gab a bit waiting for the festivities to start sarahweddingjeannashower08 036.jpg

There were several fun games, one being Baby Jeopardy which our table totally RULED on! We all got fun prizes! Then it was time for opening the gifts sarahweddingjeannashower08 086.jpg and cake sarahweddingjeannashower08 069.jpg Then it was time to head out so that we could pick up the kids from my Mom and Dad, but not before saying goodbye and talking about when we would all get together to play SingStar again sarahweddingjeannashower08 096.jpg !!!!

As we picked up the kids from my Mom and Dad we were lucky enough to get to spend some time with Uncle Ben and Dom, Nova, and Lola! We always love to get to see THEM!!! Sadly, soon after Becca had to head home and even sadder, I couldn’t go with her… It was still a GREAT weekend!!!

Twenty-four 30 gallon trash bags later… I’m DONE…

So now I will entertain you with “before” filthy pictures and the “after” clean pictures. It is really ridiculous!

Motivation or not it is THAT time of year again…

DEEP CLEAN!!! I have assured Chris and people who may have left stuff at my house that there will be unprecedented purging this deep clean cycle! I am TIRED of seeing so much JUNK! It’s all gonna GO! I am too ashamed to show you before pictures before it is actually clean because quite honestly it looks as though I have been absent from LIFE right now, which is pretty much true. Alas, I can stand the mess no longer so here I goooooooooooooooooo…

HELP, opinion needed!

OK, so I have a very important question…

color_match.gif

Which of these colors BEST matches color “GB”?

I need to order scrubs and they have to be the closest to GB as I can get.

Hurry, please let me know!!!

Princesses and Haircuts…

So those of you who know me know that a few years ago Audrey chopped off all of her hair… well, she cut it in such a way that I was forced to chop the rest of it off. It was difficult for me and I vowed that I would not cut her hair again until it was long because I wanted to see what it looked like long.

I have kept this up for two years and now I can say without a shadow of a doubt that… apparently Audrey can not grow long hair. Ehh, even that isn’t true, she can GROW it, it just doesn’t do anything but spiral up into a curl unless it is soaking wet like this

Sadly, with the summer heat and humidity all this really leads to is tangles, tangles, and more tangles. I finally had to give in and just make the CUT! Here’s a BEFORE beccabday08 004.jpg

and here is the AFTER

After her haircut we decided to put the finishing touches up in Audrey’s room. For her birthday we had redecorated and repainted and had to wait for the paint to dry. So here are the new additions to Audrey’s room…

One word: GROSS!

It’s beginning to feel a lot more like summer…

How about we catch up the theme to the blog! NO MORE SNOW!!!

It is OFFICIAL!!!!

So I have one more year left of school and part of the coursework is working a 700 hour advanced internship with an agency in the city where the school is. This is a very stressful thing because it is very much like finding out where a med student’s residency is. We have to interview at the agencies and then give our top three choices. They give their top three choices and there must be a match for the student to do their internship with the agency. It is getting down to the wire and I had my final interview on Monday with my DREAM agency that works with children and families doing play therapy and family therapy.

I found out this morning that all of my paperwork went through and I got the INTERNSHIP that I wanted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited and SO relieved!!! When I was interviewing the therapist who will be my adviser said that the last intern she had was hired at the agency so FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Me and dad.

cierere  practer     and  I  was  good.  Then  the  man  told  us  were  the  masoshers  were  and  then   we  got  mosoged  .then we went back home and I said I want to do it 20 more times.

May the power be with you…

So as many of you know I work at the Iowa City domestic violence shelter. Yesterday I had a very funny experience and Becca has requested that I share it with my (many?) viewers. Sooo… here goes.

So, one of our directors made up these motivational posters of famous quotes and put them all over the shelter for both staff and clients to read and appreciate. As I was sitting in the office typing up the weekly newsletter, one of the quotes struck me and made me laugh right out loud. I directed the rest of the office to read the quote and see what they thought. This too was met with lots of laughter. Finally we called the director in question and asked her to come up to the front office, when she got up there we asked her where she got the quote and she admitted that she had gone to a conference where the speaker had posted motivational quotes and she liked them so she got copies to hang around the shelter.

What is the quote you ask???

“There is no such thing as try. You either do it; or you don’t.” Yoda

So we in the front office thought that it would be an enormously funny to take famous quotes and just paraphrase them. So last night Chris and I worked on just a few…. Enjoy!

Don’t ask your country questions, ask your country to ask you questions. (Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country)

Success is 10% having a good idea and 90% sweat. (Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.)

Go to sleep before it gets too late and get up by dawn and you can be smart, skinny, and rich. (Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.)

Better to shut up and be thought stupid rather than talk and make it painfully obvious. (Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.)

If at first you mess it up do it again and then again at least one more time. (If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.)

Job finished. (Mission accomplished.)

I couldn’t not tell the truth if you paid me too. (I cannot tell a lie.)
